Fish Tales

well it feels like for ever since I wrote any thing on my blog . To busy doing other things in P.V. I was invited to go fishing and catch shrimp with the locals on river where crocodiles and cayman lurk. The location the Ameca River we started on the mouth of the river by the beach and then worked our way up stream.Puerto Vallarta started as a small fishing village , so fishing as always been a way of life here. Now a days you will find sport fishin competitions every year where big size marlin , sail fish , are the goal the get a money price ! mediocre fishermen are happy catching dorados , red snappers, rooster fish in a good day , but the small time mainly poor fisher men is the one that caught my attention his lack of fishing rod methods really are intriguing. They still use regular fishing thread, sinkers, hook and bait. The thread is wraped around either a soda bottle or some other type of large ring cylindrical object. Now that's what I call sport fishing! It is very tricky to learn though ,but once you get the hang of it it is very cool . As luck would have it I only caught two crabs in one hour. Trust me it is an efficient method I saw a guy next to me catch a manta ray.!

The shrimp fishing was done more up stream near swamps and it was so muddy I could not risk taking my camara or any other thing that might get damage.Within 20 minutes we had at least a pound of shrimp. We used the old fashion net system. It too (the net) as a way to be handled . You don't just trow it in the water hope something dumb enough craws or swims in . If you are looking for an alternative form of fishing you should give any of this techniques a try .
